A summary to this point...

We have arrived in Tel Aviv. Our trip began in Fort Wayne – we left the Pathway Community Church office at 12:30 pm on Sunday, March 6th. Our good friend, Judd Johnson, drove us to O’Hare airport in Chicago. We had a little trouble getting all of our luggage in the van, but we made it work.

We got to Chicago without a hitch. We checked in our luggage and made it through security with plenty of time to spare. We hit our first hiccup, though, when our flight out of Chicago was delayed due to poor weather in Newark, New Jersey. Our flight left about a half hour late – we spent a lot more time in the air though than anticipated. We flew in holding patterns multiple times and showed up in Newark an hour and ten minutes later than we originally had planned to.

We booked it to our next flight gate – only to find out that our flight from Newark to Tel Aviv was delayed 7 hours due to a mechanical issue with the plane. They had to wait until a flight came in the next morning so that we could take that plane instead.

So instead of leaving at 10:50 pm on Sunday night, we flew out Monday morning at 6:30 am from Newark. We got free hotel and food vouchers from Continental – so we stayed a few hours at the hotel…got some rest and a shower…and then headed back to the airport.

We had no problems with the fight over – and we landed around 11:30 pm (Israeli) time – or 4:30 pm back home.

Leor (our tour guide) met us at the airport and drove us to our hotel in Tel Aviv – the Metropolitan.

Right now I (Tyler) am writing this at 3 a.m Israeli time. I can’t sleep due to jet lag. As I look out my window. I can see the waves coming in and crashing on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. Reminded me that I am on the other side of the world. Can’t wait to see what it looks like in the morning (we'll try to post a picture). That’s it for now.
